The Seniors Engagement Program, led by the Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition and funded by the Yukon Housing Corporation, develops programming and support networks for six seniors housing buildings in Whitehorse.
Programming is led by two staff members and provides regular connection with at least 25 tenants every week. The goals of the program are to; empower seniors to create welcoming and supportive communities, expand social connections, build tenants’ ability to communicate needs effectively with YHC; provide information sessions and workshops, connect residents to other community resources and offer diverse programming such as arts, crafts, gardening, and cooking classes.
