provides financial support to survivors of GBV for moving and housing expenses
The Canada–Yukon Housing Benefit Gender-Based Violence Program (CYHB-GBV) is a part of Canada’s National Housing Strategy and is a joint initiative between the Government of Canada and Yukon Government. The Program aims to ease the financial burden of housing costs and related expenses, enabling survivors to rebuild their lives free from violence. It is in effect until March 31, 2028.
For this Benefit Program, gender-based violence (GBV) is defined as “violence based on gender norms and unequal power dynamics against someone based on sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or expressed gender including women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+. Violence takes many forms, including physical, sexual, financial, as well as emotional (psychological) abuse. It includes but is not limited to intimate partner violence and human trafficking.”
