Whitehorse, Yukon – The Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition (YAPC) has announced funding for seven projects through the federal Reaching Home program for the 2026–2028 funding cycle.
A total of $4.8 million was available through the Call for Proposals, with over $10 million requested from organizations across the territory, reflecting both the strength of the sector and the scale of need facing Yukoners experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
“This funding cycle reflects the continued evolution of the Yukon’s response to homelessness,” says Michelle Mbuto, Reaching Home Funding Coordinator. “Funding decisions were informed by A Place to Be: Community Action to End Homelessness, an evidence-based framework that helps ensure investments are guided by community priorities, local data, and best practice.”
A total of 18.5 positions have been funded through this intake, combining new, continued, and enhanced roles that support housing access, housing stability, and housing loss prevention.

In addition to direct support services, this funding cycle includes targeted investments in system infrastructure including Coordinated Access, lived experience leadership and workforce training. These foundational elements are critical to improving consistency, coordination, and long-term outcomes for people who have experienced chronic homelessness.

A Place to Be: Community Action to End Homelessness
A Place to Be was developed in partnership with community organizations, governments, and people with lived experience of homelessness. It provides a clear picture of homelessness in the Yukon, including what system changes are needed, how much housing is required and what supports can help people stay housed.

Reaching Home
Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy is funded through Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada. YAPC is the Community Entity for Reaching Home in the territory, working with a Community Advisory Board to administer federal homelessness funding in the Yukon.
