The Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition (YAPC) has served our territory for a quarter of a century. Over that time we have been and continue to be committed to the elimination of poverty in Yukon through awareness, education, advocacy, community building and action. Volunteers are the beating heart of our organization. The YAPC has lost a key member of our extended family.
Bill Thomas, a long-serving co-chair of the YAPC passed away on October 26th, at home with family by his side. As a leader, mentor and colleague he exhibited an unflinching dedication to fighting poverty, which affects so many Yukoners. He leaves an indelible mark on efforts over the last decade to squarely face our on-going housing crisis.
Bill's perseverance and humour touched many. His death leaves us saddened and his presence will long continue to inspire our collective efforts. Our sincere condolences to his family and many friends.
