Food Network Yukon (FNY)

Food Network Yukon (FNY)

In collaboration with the Arctic Institute of Community-Based Research, the YAPC has been facilitating a network of over 70 individuals in the community who are involved in issues related to food and food security. The FNY's vision is evolving and the group's discussion surrounds food sovereignty and food security in the Territory. Our meetings are usually held at the YAPC office, 509 Hanson Street. Poverty and Homelessness Action Week (PHAW)

Held every October, PHAW is designed to raise awareness and promote action to end poverty and homelessness in the Yukon. Started in 2005, PHAW has grown to include activities sponsored by a wide cross section of organizations, individuals, businesses, churches, schools and local media. PHAW 2020 is set for October 19th to 23rd and is being led by graduates of the Voices Influencing Change program.

Sally & Sisters/Soeurs

Sally & Sisters/Soeurs started in the fall of 2010 and offers a sober and safe lunch program for women and children at the Food Bank two days/week, Mondays and Fridays from 11:50 am to 12:50 pm. Lunch is not served on Statutory Holidays. In response to COVID 19, Sally & Sisters/Soeurs is not operating. Meals to go are currently available 7 days a week at the Food Bank. Bagged lunches from 1 to 2 pm and dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Whitehorse Connects

Whitehorse Connects

Whitehorse Connects is an opportunity for those who are homeless, living in poverty or among the working poor to come together on a given day for a range of health and human services they may not otherwise access. On Friday, June 26th we are hosting a mini-Connects with Inclusion Yukon, FASSY, CAIRS, Kaushee's and Blood Ties Four Directions from 10 am to 12 noon. Services to be provided at each location include food, access to computers and care kits. Each organization is ensuring we fulfil the requirements of the Chief Medical Officer of Health. For more information, call Kerry at 334 3917. We hope October's Connects will go ahead as planned on Tuesday, October 20th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre.

Monthly Coalition meetings are usually held the third Thursday of the month from 5pm to 7pm at the Whitehorse United Church, 601 Main Street. Come learn what we're up to and become part of the network. During this time of physical distancing, we are hosting our monthly meetings on ZOOM.
